Australian Product Guide is designed to minimise the personal information needed to use the service. Core browsing, search, comparison and recommendation tools work without an account. This policy describes the information Australian Product Guide currently handles and the choices available to users.
1. Signed-out and browser-local research
When you use Australian Product Guide while signed out, saved products, recent research, comparison selections and other supported workspace information can be stored in your browser. Browser-local information stays on that browser unless you clear it, the browser removes it, or you choose to sign in and sync supported workspace records.
2. Optional My Australian Product Guide accounts
If you create a My Australian Product Guide account, Australian Product Guide processes the information needed to authenticate and operate that account, such as your email address, authentication records, communication preferences you choose to set, and supported workspace records you choose to sync. Australian Product Guide does not need your retailer passwords or payment-card details to provide a My Australian Product Guide account.
My Australian Product Guide authentication and synced workspace data are provided through Australian Product Guide's Supabase project, which is currently hosted in the Sydney, Australia region. Synced workspace records are associated with the authenticated account so one user's records are not intentionally made available to another user.
3. Local storage and cloud sync are separate
Signing in does not automatically erase browser-local research. Supported records may exist both locally and in the signed-in workspace. Deleting the cloud account removes the authenticated account and synced Australian Product Guide workspace through the available account-deletion process, while browser-local research remains until separately cleared from that browser.
4. Analytics and consent
Google Analytics is opt-in on Australian Product Guide. Analytics storage remains denied until a user grants analytics consent through Australian Product Guide's cookie controls. Advertising storage, ad-user-data signals and ad personalisation remain disabled in Australian Product Guide's Google Analytics configuration.
Australian Product Guide's analytics implementation removes query strings and URL fragments from the page location it sends and is designed not to send typed search queries, Decision Lab free-text descriptions, Scout messages, email addresses or account identifiers as Australian Product Guide analytics event data. Australian Product Guide may also use privacy-minimised technical measurements and hosting logs to diagnose reliability and performance.
5. Service providers and third parties
Australian Product Guide currently relies on service providers including Vercel for website hosting and technical operation, Supabase for optional account authentication and synced workspace storage, and Google Analytics when analytics consent is granted. When you choose to follow a retailer or manufacturer link, that external service handles information under its own privacy practices.
6. Affiliate referrals
Some outbound retailer links contain affiliate attribution. Australian Product Guide does not receive a copy of the retailer's checkout details merely because an affiliate link is used. The retailer or marketplace controls its own cookies, account information, seller relationship, transaction and fulfilment once you leave Australian Product Guide.
7. Overseas processing
Australian Product Guide's current Supabase project is hosted in the Sydney, Australia region. Other providers, their support functions or parts of their infrastructure may process technical or service information outside Australia, and provider locations can change. Australian Product Guide therefore does not promise that every technical processing activity occurs only in Australia.
8. Retention and deletion
Browser-local Australian Product Guide information remains until it is cleared, overwritten or removed by the browser. Synced My Australian Product Guide workspace data remains while the account or relevant record exists, subject to operational, security, legal and provider retention requirements. My Australian Product Guide provides a self-service account-deletion process for the authenticated account and synced Australian Product Guide workspace. Technical logs are retained according to operational need and applicable provider settings.
9. Access, correction and privacy complaints
Privacy questions, requests to access or correct personal information Australian Product Guide holds, and privacy complaints can be sent to contact@australianproductguide.au. Signed-in users can also inspect and manage supported My Australian Product Guide account and workspace information through the account experience.
10. Security
Australian Product Guide uses measures appropriate to the current service, including encrypted web connections, authenticated access controls and account-level separation for synced workspace data. No internet service can promise absolute security. Users should keep account credentials private and should not send passwords or payment-card details to Australian Product Guide by email.
11. Australian privacy position
Australian Product Guide monitors its privacy obligations as the service, data practices and business change. Nothing in this policy is intended to remove any privacy right or remedy that applies under Australian law. Australian Product Guide does not rely on this page to claim a permanent exemption from privacy obligations.
12. Changes to this policy
Australian Product Guide will update this policy when its material information-handling practices change. The effective and review dates above are advanced only when a substantive review or change has occurred.
