Transparency principle. Commercial relationships, affiliate availability and retailer-link type contribute zero points to product suitability or recommendation scoring.

The editorial standard is simple: evidence and shopper fit must remain separable from monetisation.

Claims and representations

  • Use current primary sources for consequential product claims wherever practical.
  • Do not guess model identity, compatibility, stock, price, availability or performance.
  • State testing status and never imply physical testing that has not occurred.
  • Distinguish documented facts, editorial interpretation and volatile retailer information.
  • Use “best”, “winner” and similar language only when scope and decision basis are clear.
  • Do not fabricate ratings, awards, customer numbers, staff, laboratories, partnerships or popularity.

Commercial independence

  • Affiliate relationships contribute zero recommendation points.
  • A product may be covered without an affiliate link.
  • A direct product link does not increase suitability.
  • Paid links are labelled near the point of action.

Direct product links are used only where exact model or variant identity reaches the required confidence. Otherwise Australian Product Guide prefers an explicitly labelled search fallback over a guessed ASIN or wrong product.

Product imagery

Public visibility is not treated as permission to copy photography. Australian Product Guide records image source, delivery mechanism and verification status. Amazon imagery may be displayed only through a supported authorised mechanism such as Amazon Creators API and only for the matching product identifier. Until that integration is authorised, Australian Product Guide-owned visuals remain the fallback.

Corrections

Material errors should be fixed at the structured-record level and affected recommendations, comparisons, links and image controls rechecked.

AI and automation

Automation can assist research, structuring and QA, but it does not justify unsupported claims. Material consumer-facing product assertions should remain traceable to evidence.
